The Power of Presence!
The power of presence in our lives is amazing. Just begin by bringing your attention to whatever you are doing. Right now as you read this page, allow yourself to just be here in this moment, allowing everything to be the way it is. Sometimes we resist the present moment because we think (unconsciously) by resisting that we will be able to change that which we have resistance to. Actually it is just the opposite, the more we resist something the harder it is to change, because as one of my teachers from the Sedona Method has said, “Resistance is the glue that holds everything together.” That includes our suffering. All suffering is comparing this moment to another and thinking it should be different. Now I’m not saying don’t make choices or changes in your life, it’s just that if you’re unable to change it in the moment, then experiment with allowing it, whatever it may be. Allow the thoughts, feelings and sensations to be as they are. What a relief that is. It can be extremely relaxing to allow the moment to be as it is. Try it and see for yourself. This is our natural state, however most of us have forgotten it because we are so habituated and conditioned to live in our mind and follow our thoughts, and believe that everything is a means to an end. In other words we spend a great deal of our lives thinking we should be somewhere other than where we are; more further along in our career, a better car, a bigger house , more money, better relationships, you fill in the blank. So just noticing this, can you just let it all be for just this moment? And how about this moment? Relax, nothing will fall apart if you let go of your struggle for a while. In fact usually things get much easier. Can you begin to feel that? Even while you’re reading can you bring awareness to your body and feel that it is your whole being that is reading this?
This is not necessarily so easy living in such a busy world. This is why it is so important from my perspective to make time for slowing down, and being present with ourselves, our lives, our children, whatever the case may be. This is also why I am offering meditations as a way to become more present with ourselves. Whatever way you choose becoming more present can also help us deal with stress, as stress is basically only a resistance to the present moment. Some of the other ways besides meditation that people can begin to bring themselves more present and slow down is to spend time in nature, or take a bath. You may have other ways yourself. Most of the time our energy is going out and moving fast, that’s why it’s good to balance that out with some quiet inner time. It is part of the balance of life, ying and yang, summer and winter,. You get the point.
The free guided meditation on the home page is for assisting you in easily getting to that natural state of being which is profoundly relaxing, and helpful in relieving stress.
I hope you enjoy it.
